Flotilla 17 members on top of YBI Flotilla 17 is a group of Coast Guard Auxiliarists in the San Francisco Bay Area.  We meet once a month in and around San Francisco.

The flotilla is the basic organizational unit of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary.  Auxiliarists are people just like you who have chosen to volunteer their time and talents to the service of their country in a non-military organization that acts as a "force-multiplier" for the United States Coast Guard.  We perform missions alongside active service Coast Guard men and women with the exception of combat and direct law enforcement roles.  We also provide Auxiliary-specific tasks promoting boating safety, preventative vessel examinations and public education related to the protection of lives and safety of the environment.

We welcome you to browse our new web site, read about our programs, sign up for one of our classes, request a vessel safety check, or perhaps even join our organization.  You'll find all of the links you'll need on the left.

If you are looking for another part of our organization, the menu along the top of the page will help you navigate the entire Auxiliary.

Members of our flotilla may sign in or register for an account may use the "Member Access" button to the left.  New Users can also register here.

If you have any questions or require assistance, please use the "Contact Us" link on the left and select Communications Services to send your message to me directly and I'll respond as soon as possible.

 Welcome Aboard!

Axuliarist Neil Nevesny

Auxiliary Trident Device

Congratulations to Neil Nevesny, the latest member of Flotilla 17 to be awarded the Marine Safety Trident Device.

Neil is currently serving Coast Guard Auxiliary District 11 North as Assistant District Staff Officer - Marine Safety, Facilities Branch and regularly works directly with the active service coast guard team ensuring that that the area shoreside facilities are operating in a safe and secure manner.

The Trident device is awarded to auxiliarists who have dedicated themselves to becoming marine safety professionals by passing a series of examinations on coast guard marine safety policies.  Candidates must  also complete a number of personnel qualification standards qualifying them for a variety of vital positions within the marine safety mission.

Neil's dedication to this mission is an inspiration to all members and this award identifies him as an expert in this field.  Bravo Zulu Neil!
